With apologies for the lack of updates of late lets bring you up to date with a BANG! Yep, she is back in the saddle! Five months and 21 days following the accident in which Laura sustained life changing injuries she has defied everyone's expectations and clambered back into the saddle. Super trainer Caroline Saynor has provided Laura with the ultimate in mounting blocks which enable the delicate operation of easing Laura into the saddle again after such an absence and after having had major surgeries to her knee and hip this was no mean feat on Laura's behalf.
So flashback to a gloriously sunny Sunday evening where a group of us gathered to commence "Operation Get Warbz Back in the Saddle". With a little cajoling H was eased into position and with the help of Laura's partner Shane, Diane and Caroline, she managed a pretty seamless first mount up.
After a little adjustment of the stirrup irons from dressage length to jockey "our lass" managed a circuit of the yard. Its fair to say there wasn't a dry eye in the house, and all of us present breathed a sigh of relief when she had both feet back on terra firma.
We are all so proud of her, its been a hell of a journey to get to this point and like with every journey there will be some bumps along the way but since that first ride, there have been two more, and yesterday's involved solo riding for the first time! Its going to be a while before Charlotte needs to start worrying too much, but don't get too comfortable Ms DuJardin as Laura will be snapping at your heels soon enough!
Watch out for a blog post from the lady herself in the next few days and to everyone who has supported Laura in getting to this point a thank you will never be enough.
Enjoy a few pictures taken by yours truly on that momentous Sunday evening.
Take care, love Kathy x
