Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity Show!

March 11, 2019

4 days post operation, could I do this?

I was holding my first ever horse show, a charity show with all proceeds going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

I had done all the prep before surgery, all I had to do was turn up and take entries .....right?!
I wish!  I could NOT have done it without my family and friends.

I was now hoping and praying that:

1) The weather forecast would change, like it had been doing hourly! It had gone through every weather possible from high winds to snow!!
2) That people actually turned up!!

This is the first show I have solely organised!

When I arrived at the yard it was so dark and gloomy and wet! I made the decision to move the arenas inside which meant splitting the indoor into 2 arenas, and running arena 3 later than planned.  So with an update posted on Facebook to update everyone what was happening we cracked on with the inhand.  Pleased to say it all ran really smoothly, no mishaps or dramas! We got arena 3 finally underway and then the judges had a break.  By this time Mr Sunshine had appeared with his hat on!  The weather had picked up so we moved 1 ring outside to give the riders more room to work in.

Both ridden classes underway and the bloody sky turned grey and awful again!!  Rings moved again inside, it was blowing a gale and so cold it wasn't fair on any of the riders, judges or horses!

We had one rider fall after her pony was very naughty and required first aid, but luckily all was okay and she was checked again by our first aider.

The ridden champion and Supreme of the Show was taken by a BEAUTIFUL Shire mare who was only 6 years  old!!!!

My super boy and Diane have done it again. Finished 1st in Cob, coloured traditional and handsome gelding and 3rd in veteran and condition. He then took Reserve inhand champion and reserve Supreme Champion!!!!!

I had NOTHING at all to do with his prep or him today, Diane did everything herself from bathing to bandaging!! I am so proud of her. I'm sure she wont mind me saying she was very nervous after having 2 unsuitable horses knocking her confidence to being super confident hacking jumping and now competing.

I MUST remember that just 4 days ago I had more surgery and today I have been so busy and on my feet all day. I will never learn🙄🤦‍♀️. I have a wound check Tuesday so hopefully all okay!

Once again thank you to everyone who helped make this possible!

Huge thank you to everyone that donated to this amazing charity. To anyone who attended the show, bought raffle tickets, poo picked, cleaned mirrors, set arenas up, bought cake or just donated. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. You wont ever know how much this meas to myself or my family.

We raised over £2400 with the number growing!!!!!
